"Be More Assertive"

Cropped Jumper- H&M, Faux Leather Leggings- Warehouse, Shoes- Primark, New Look

Two and a half years since starting this blog and I finally got around to outfit posting! I bought these leggings after much debate, would I wear them once to a party and then leave them in my wardrobe, too afraid to wear them casually? Of course. But I bought them anyway (they looked fab at the party).

Recently, something I've heard in more or less one phrase is that I have to be more assertive. I've been told this at work, by Sam and by my mum, and I thought 'why do I have to be rude and stubborn?'. But (to choose one of many examples) when I was buying stationery, something been marked wrong and bumped up the price by a fair bit, and I didn't want to be too much of a bother to the sales assistant so was prepared to spend extra until Sam stepped in. I realised I have kind of been tip-toeing through life, making sure I don't get in anybody else's way. I've decided that I'm not going to get anywhere in life doing that, so rather than the "rude and stubborn" idea I thought assertiveness entails, I'm vowing to be more confident and allow myself a bit more room in the world. Less, tip-toeing, no stomping, just striding. If you catch my drift.

The other day I corrected a server on what a voucher entitled me to, twice. I wasn't rude, but I felt like I was taking a step towards striding. And I thought this outfit kind of entails my new mindset. If I want to wear pleather then I shall wear pleather, as casually as I please. This is my soft-to-hardasnails transition summed up in an outfit.

And yes, garden pictures mean that I get to change my shoes mid-post. And what?

So long!
