Fresh Starts & All That Hullabaloo

Five days into the New Year I have finally gotten around to writing up my 2014-welcoming post. Ironically one of my resolutions of the year is to become far more organised blog wise, as I have said plentifully previously however I will stick to it this time around. Probably.

Just Add Deenie
Last year, somewhere along the line, I started using this little space once and for all, updating it reasonably often and with posts that aren't too shoddy to be read. I'm becoming proud of what I have made of it but more than that- hopeful for what I can make of it.
When I have free time within the re-start of college and such, I have plans to fiddle around with the design and other parts of the blog. I don't have any money that I can use to instantly pretty-up the blog so tweaking blogger's own templates and relying on free resources (like the buttons on the end of this post) is how I'm going to do it.
I'm also intending on using my camera more often for posts. Less 'Wishful Thinking' and more 'What I'll Wear', perhaps tags and other posts will be on their way in too. I've practiced with taking beauty-blog-esqe photos and sometimes they look quite good and other times not so. Either way, I don't have the money nor the know-how to beauty blog as others do so I doubt that'll be a big factor.

Style and Beauty Goals
Speaking of beauty products and the like, I've challenged myself to changing in that sense. Buying products, using them up and then buying a similar product has always been the way with me. Sale shopping last week ended up with me coming home with additions to my poor collection that I was very happy with.

New Soap and Glory and Palmer's face care has already got me out of my skincare routine rut. The new mascaras I bought to relieve myself of the year old ones I've been using, the face powder I've been in dire need of as my old one is running out and the new brush set my grandma gifted me this Christmas are awaiting me on the shelf, when I get out of bed and back to the outside world where makeup is actually worn.
I aim to try something new on my face every week (no more lazy eyeliner every day) and take better care of my skin, nails and hair. Simple as that really...

College Goals
Well, college is tomorrow. Writing this post could be considered as procrastination where I am avoiding the thousand words I have to write to complete my film coursework, or re-writing both English article and essay, or re-reading Pride and Prejudice but hey ho.
I won't go into all the boring details but gone are the days where homework and coursework is completed the night before the deadline. And if I need help, I'm not going to shy away from it. Because the course at the University I really want to go to in a couple of years is SO hard to get into. Spending hours on Unistats yesterday pushed me into this hard-work mindset and I hope I stay in it.

Did any of you reading study a media course at University? Please let me know if you did because I would really love to know more from someone experienced!
P.S. D'you like my new glasses? I like them much more than my old ones, for sure.

And then there are the rest: stay fit, be nice and happy all the time, blah blah blah.
Happy New Year everyone!
What are your New Year's Resolutions? Anything similar?

  1. Your goals all sounds great, I've really enjoyed reading your blog and I'm looking forward to reading more from you this year too. I did media at college and then a little at uni before I ended up switching courses. I remember it being a lot of fun, which Uni are you hoping to go to?

    1. Aw thank you Jennie, and I do media at college as well! I'm really really hoping on going to Cardiff Uni, the odds aren't great but I'm hoping that hard work can get me there! Which Uni is this, and you have to do much outside of a levels to get in? Sorry for the questioning haha :)

  2. Your goals sound so sensible and achievable, Deenie! I've truly loved reading your blog over the past year. I definitely need to set myself some shopping goals - i.e. to not do it so much ;) xx
